Glass type
Coated glass (low-emissivity, solar control and self-cleaning)
Glass with a thin coating on one face: low-emissivity coatings keep heat in, solar control coatings keep the sun's heat out, and self-cleaning coatings help rain wash dirt away.

Toughening and processing
- Toughening
- Most coated glass can be toughened before it is glazed; the coating faces the side the unit's make-up names.
- Processing
- The coated face is marked and faces the cavity or the weather as the unit's make-up says.
Care
- Clean the coated face gently with water and a soft cloth; abrasive cleaners remove the coating.
