If your trade account has agreed credit terms, checkout shows a box labelled "Your PO or job reference (optional, printed on the invoice)". Type your purchase order number or job name there, up to 60 characters, and it prints on the invoice beside our order reference. Your accounts team can then match our invoice to their PO without ringing us.

Which references are on my paperwork?

Two references travel with every account order:

ReferenceWho sets itWhere you see it
Our order referenceWe do, when the order is placedThe confirmation page and email, the order's tracking page, the invoice
Your PO or job referenceYou do, at checkoutThe confirmation page ("Your reference") and the invoice

Quote our order reference when you contact us about an order. Use your own reference to find the order in your own records.

How do I add my reference to an order?

  1. Step 1: Sign in to your trade account

The reference box shows only for accounts with agreed credit terms. If you pay by card on every order, see the note below.

  2. Step 2: Go to checkout

Build the order in the shop, the configurator or quick order, then open the basket and continue to checkout.

  3. Step 3: Find the reference box

It sits with the "Pay on account" option, which shows your terms and available credit.

  4. Step 4: Type your PO or job reference

Enter it exactly as your accounts team will look for it, for example the PO number your system issued, or a site name and plot. It can be up to 60 characters.

  5. Step 5: Check the confirmation

The confirmation page shows "Your reference" under the order details. If it is wrong, contact us before the invoice is issued.

One PO or one order per job?

Order each job separately if your accounts team works one PO per job. Each order gets its own invoice and its own reference, so nothing needs splitting later. A single order with several sites on it is harder for everyone to reconcile, and a credit note against one site then touches the whole invoice.

Do you send purchase orders to me?

No. A purchase order is a document a buyer sends to a supplier. When you buy from us, the PO is yours and the reference box carries it. Our invoices, statements and credit notes are the documents we send you.

Where do I find invoices by reference?

Sign in and open your orders. Each order shows its reference, and the invoice PDF prints both references. Monthly statements list the invoices on your account, so a month can be checked against your own records in one pass. See invoices and credit notes.

Questions we get asked

Is the PO reference required?

No. It is optional. If your business always needs one, make it a habit at checkout, because an order without it simply prints our reference alone.

How long can my reference be?

Up to 60 characters. Letters, numbers, spaces and the usual punctuation are fine.

Can I change the reference after ordering?

Contact us with the order reference and the correct PO before the invoice is issued, and we will tell you whether it can still be changed on the paperwork.

Which reference should I quote when I ring?

Our order reference. It finds the order straight away. Your own reference helps too if you have it to hand.
