Glass bath screens cut to size

The four bath screen layouts we make, the glass and edges, how corner cuts and wall brackets work, and how to measure your bath for a made-to-measure screen.

We make glass bath screens to your measurements in four layouts: a fixed screen, a fixed panel with a hinged panel, a single hinged panel, and a folding two-panel screen. Every bath screen is toughened 8 mm or 10 mm glass with polished edges. You choose the layout in our configurator, enter your sizes and see a live price.

Which bath screen layouts can I order?

A bath screen stands on the rim of the bath. The configurator offers four layouts, all priced online:

LayoutWhat it is
Fixed bath screenOne panel, fixed in place, with nothing that opens
Fixed panel and hinged panelA fixed panel at the tap end with a second panel on hinges beside it
Single hinged panelA single panel on hinges, with nothing fixed beside it
Folding (two panels)A panel hinged to the wall with a second panel hinged to it, folding back together

The configurator does not offer curved bath screens. If you want one, ask us.

What glass is a bath screen made from?

  • Clear: 8 mm or 10 mm.
  • Grey tint or bronze tint: 8 mm or 10 mm.
  • Satin (etched) or fluted (reeded): 10 mm only.

Every bath screen is toughened and every edge is polished. These are fixed, not options, because we do not supply bath or shower glass any other way. Read toughened, laminated and annealed glass for what toughening means and edge finishes for the edges.

How are corner cuts on a bath screen decided?

A corner cut is a notch taken off a corner of the glass. On a fixed bath screen, and on the fixed panel of a fixed and hinged screen, the hand of the screen decides which edge can take them:

  • Left hand: top left, bottom left, or both.
  • Right hand: top right, bottom right, or both.

A cut on the other edge is refused and the configurator tells you why. If the hand is not set, the first corner cut sets the edge. Our guide to left and right hand doors explains how to work out the hand, viewed from outside.

Does a bath screen need wall brackets?

This depends on the layout and the width. Our 700 mm rule applies to the fixed bath screen and to the fixed panel of the fixed and hinged screen:

  • Up to 700 mm wide: no holes. The panel is held by U-channel only, with no option to add a hole.
  • 701 mm and over: two holes are added automatically, 200 mm from the top and 200 mm from the bottom, for two SWGC83300 wall brackets, plus the U-channel.

The rule does not apply to the single hinged panel or the folding screen. Those stay as they are. On 8 mm glass the channel is SWCH15X15X15, and on 10 mm glass it is SWCH20X15X20. See hinges, channels and seals for the hardware and its finishes.

How do I measure for a bath screen?

  1. Step 1: Measure from the bath rim

The screen stands on the rim of the bath, so take every height from the rim, not the floor.

  2. Step 2: Measure the width at three heights

Measure across the space the screen covers at the rim, at waist height and at the top. Order to the smallest.

  3. Step 3: Measure the height at both ends

Measure from the rim to the top of the screen at the wall end and the open end. Use the smaller figure, or keep both if the ceiling slopes.

  4. Step 4: Check the wall for plumb

Hold a spirit level against the wall and note how far it leans over the screen height.

  5. Step 5: Say what your figures are

Tell us whether you are giving the opening or the exact glass size, so the fitting deduction is not taken off twice.

Our shower screen measuring guide has the full method and the common mistakes. The shower screen size guide lists typical bath screen sizes, but we cut to your bath, not to a standard size. If the ceiling over the bath slopes, read raked panels under sloping ceilings.

Questions we get asked

Can you make a curved bath screen?

The configurator does not offer curved bath screens. Ask us and we will tell you what we can do.

Can I have 6 mm glass for a bath screen?

No. Bath screens are 8 mm or 10 mm toughened glass.

Why can I not add a hole to my 650 mm fixed screen?

Fixed bath screens up to 700 mm wide are held by U-channel only, with no holes.

Can I put a corner cut on both sides?

No. On a fixed bath screen the cuts go on the hand's edge only: top and bottom left for left hand, top and bottom right for right hand.
