Shower screens and enclosures: layouts and glass

The bath screens, walk-ins, hinged and sliding enclosures we cut to size, the glass they come in, and how each layout is priced and checked.

We make bath screens, walk-in screens, hinged enclosures and sliding enclosures to your measurements. You choose the layout in our configurator, give us the opening, and it works out the glass and shows a live price. Every shower and bath panel is toughened with polished edges, in clear or tinted 8 or 10 mm glass, or satin or fluted 10 mm glass.

Which shower layouts can I order online?

Most layouts are priced online. Three sliding layouts are still priced by hand.

What glass can I choose for a shower?

  • Clear glass: 8 mm or 10 mm.
  • Grey tint or bronze tint: 8 mm or 10 mm.
  • Satin (etched) or fluted (reeded): 10 mm only.

We do not make shower or bath glass in 6 mm, and we do not use mirror in a shower. Every panel is toughened and every edge is polished, with no option to turn either off. A hinged door must be 8 or 10 mm because the hinge has to grip the glass.

Read toughened, laminated and annealed glass for what toughening does, and glass types for how satin and fluted glass look.

Why does my order say "provisional"?

You give us the opening, not the glass sizes. The configurator works out each pane from your opening using our deduction rules. Where one of those figures is still an estimate, each size is labelled "(provisional)", you tick to accept that at checkout, and the job is held as not ready to cut until our staff confirm the specification.

This is a check, not a quote. You still see a live price and buy online. Our team then confirms the specification before any glass is cut.

How do I measure for a shower screen?

Measure from the tray lip or the finished wetroom floor, not the room floor. Take the width at three heights and order to the smallest. Take the height at both ends and use the smaller. Check the wall with a spirit level, because a leaning wall leaves a wedge-shaped gap.

Say clearly whether you are giving us the opening or the exact glass size. An unmarked glass size can have the fitting deduction taken off twice. Our shower screen measuring guide walks through each step, and measuring an opening covers the general rules.

The shower screen size guide lists common sizes, but we cut to your opening.

What hardware comes with it?

The configurator adds the hinges, U-channel, door seals, wall brackets and support bars your layout needs. See hinges, channels and seals, left or right hand doors and, for a sloping ceiling, raked panels.

Where to go next

Questions we get asked

Can I order a sliding door between two fixed panels online?

Not yet. That layout, the two-door slider and the corner entry slider are priced by hand. Choose them in the configurator and our team sends you a price, or contact us.

Can I have 6 mm glass for a shower?

No. Shower and bath glass is 8 or 10 mm, and satin or fluted glass is 10 mm only.

Can I have untoughened glass or a plain edge?

No. Every shower and bath panel we make is toughened with polished edges.

How long will my enclosure take?

Lead times depend on the job, so ask us when you order.
