For the fixed panels covered by our rule, a panel up to 700 mm wide is held by U-channel alone, with no holes and no option to add one. From 701 mm, the configurator adds two holes for two SWGC83300 wall brackets, and the U-channel stays. This is a rule for particular layouts, not a fixing design for all glass.
Read the dimensions on the drawing
On a straight wall edge, the holes are 20 mm in diameter. Their centres are 33 mm in from the wall edge, one 200 mm from the top edge and one 200 mm from the bottom edge. The configurator places them; do not add another pair as your own holes.
On a raked wall edge, the 33 mm is measured level, in from the sloping edge, at each hole's own height. The 200 mm figures do not change.
The rule covers these fixed panels:
- the fixed bath screen, and the fixed panel of a fixed and hinged bath screen
- the walk-in screen fixed to the wall, and the two-panel and three-panel walk-ins
- the fixed panels of hinged enclosures, inline and at 90 or 135 degrees
It does not apply to any door, any sliding enclosure, the free-standing walk-in, the single hinged bath panel, the folding bath screen or the single door between two walls. A panel with no edge against a wall, such as the return panel of a three-panel walk-in, keeps its glass-to-glass connectors and takes no wall bracket however wide it is.
Corner cuts need a closer check
This part applies to the fixed bath screen and the fixed panel of a fixed and hinged bath screen, where a corner cut sits on the wall edge. A corner cut does not automatically move the hole. The 200 mm position stays unless the cut swallows the hole centre or the hole breaks into the cut edge.
When that happens, the derived hole moves 200 mm from that end of the remaining straight wall edge. For an 800 × 1500 mm left-hand pane with a 150 × 300 mm top cut, the ruled vertical positions are 200 and 1000 mm from the bottom. Read those positions on the drawing rather than measuring from the sloping or removed edge.
If a hole kept at 200 mm sits close to the cut, it is still drilled there and our staff are told. Only when no straight wall edge is left for both holes is one left out, and staff confirm the fixing before cutting. Do not choose a replacement position on site.
Confirm the matching hardware
The channel depends on thickness: SWCH15X15X15 for 8 mm glass and SWCH20X15X20 for 10 mm. It is added to every governed panel, whatever its width. On a walk-in, the bracket follows the support bar kit's finish, or the hardware finish you chose if there is no kit. The bracket is not made in polished brass, and the configurator says so rather than swapping the finish. Check the order lines and the finish as well as the drawing; a bracket in the 3D preview is not the order.
Read holes and cut-outs for other preparation, or bath screens and walk-in screens for the layouts. For help with this task, contact the team with the relevant reference and the outcome you need.
Questions we get asked
Can I move an automatically placed hole myself?
Use the approved drawing and ask us to review it if the position conflicts with the site. Do not move a hole independently of the support arrangement or drill toughened glass afterwards.
Does the corner exception apply to every shower panel?
No. It covers the fixed bath screen and the fixed panel of a fixed and hinged bath screen, described above. A different panel, hinge or structural requirement needs its own confirmed preparation rather than a copied offset.
Which drawing should I give the fitter?
Use the final approved revision showing the pane, corner cut and derived holes together. An earlier rectangular drawing may show positions that no longer apply after the corner changes.
