A walk-in screen is fixed glass with an open way in, so there is no door. We make four walk-in layouts to your measurements: a screen fixed to the wall, a free-standing screen, and two-panel and three-panel walk-ins. A wall-fixed screen 950 mm wide or more gets a support bar kit automatically. Every panel is toughened 8 or 10 mm glass with polished edges.

Which walk-in layouts can I order?

LayoutHow it is held
Screen fixed to the wallU-channel on the wall edge, plus a support bar kit from 950 mm wide
Free-standing screenA floor channel and two support bars from the ceiling
Two panelsEach panel fixed to its own wall in a floor channel, with a support tube across the top and the way in between them
Three panelsTwo wall-fixed panels and a return panel joined at 90 degrees, all in a floor channel, with a support bar to the return

All four are priced online. Three are sold provisionally: on the free-standing screen the two ceiling support bars are an estimate, on the two-panel walk-in the support bar is confirmed by our team, and on the three-panel walk-in the bracket heights are. A provisional job is not cut until our team confirms it. The shower screens and enclosures guide explains what provisional means at checkout.

When does a walk-in need a support bar?

A screen fixed to the wall gets a support bar kit from 950 mm wide. At exactly 950 mm it gets one. The kit is three pieces, priced together:

KitWhat is in it
Wall kit (the default)An end bracket, a wall bracket and a 19 mm support bar
Ceiling kitA wall or ceiling bracket, a ceiling connector and a 19 mm support bar

Choose the ceiling kit when the bar should go up to the ceiling rather than across to the side wall, for example when there is no side wall to reach. A free-standing screen always takes two ceiling kits.

Support bar kits come in satin brushed, matte black, satin brass and polished brass. They are not offered in polished chrome.

Does a walk-in panel get wall brackets too?

Our 700 mm rule applies to the walk-in fixed to the wall and to the two-panel and three-panel walk-ins:

  • Up to 700 mm wide: no holes. The panel is held by U-channel only, and there is no option to add a hole.
  • 701 mm and over: two holes are added automatically, 200 mm from the top and 200 mm from the bottom, for two wall brackets, each hole 20 mm across with its centre 33 mm in from the wall edge.

On a walk-in, the wall bracket follows the support bar kit's finish, or your hardware finish if there is no kit. A panel with no edge against a wall, such as the return panel of a three-panel walk-in, keeps its glass-to-glass connectors and takes no wall bracket. The free-standing screen is not covered by the rule. See fixed-panel bracket holes for the full rule.

How do I order a walk-in screen?

  1. Step 1: Pick the layout

Open the shower configurator and choose the walk-in layout that matches your room.

  2. Step 2: Set the hand

On a wall-fixed screen, the hand says which wall the glass is fixed to, viewed from outside the shower. The drawing shows it as LH or RH. Our door hand guide explains the viewpoint.

  3. Step 3: Enter your measurements

Measure from the tray lip or the finished wetroom floor, take three widths and two heights, and use the smallest width.

  4. Step 4: Choose the support bar mount and the finish

Choose the wall kit or the ceiling kit if your screen takes one, then the hardware finish.

  5. Step 5: Check the drawing

The drawing shows each panel, its holes and its kit. Tick to confirm it at checkout once you have checked every size.

Can the return panel have a mitred edge?

Yes. The return panel of a walk-in can have three polished edges and one mitred edge, where it meets the other panel. Set that one edge to Mitred under "Edges, one by one" in the configurator. The edge finishes guide shows how.

Where to go next

Questions we get asked

My walk-in is 900 mm wide. Does it need a support bar?

The kit is added automatically from 950 mm. Below that, a wall-fixed screen is held by its channel and, over 700 mm, its wall brackets.

Can I have a polished chrome support bar?

Not at the moment. The kits come in satin brushed, matte black, satin brass and polished brass.

Does a walk-in screen have door seals?

No. The three door seals go on hinged shower doors. A walk-in has no door.

What glass can a walk-in be made in?

Clear, grey tint or bronze tint in 8 or 10 mm, or satin or fluted glass in 10 mm, all toughened.
