Your glass drawing and the checks before cutting

How we confirm every cut-to-size order with a dimensioned drawing, what the checkout tick means, and how to check or correct an order.

Every cut-to-size order is confirmed with a dimensioned drawing before anything is cut. You check the drawing in the configurator, tick to confirm it at checkout, and get a "Check your order" link to confirm or correct it before cutting starts. We check orders with holes, cut-outs or shapes ourselves, and tell you when your glass is "Approved for cutting".

What is the drawing?

When you build a piece in the configurator, a technical drawing of your exact panel appears and updates as you type. It shows the overall width and height, every hole with its diameter, every cut-out, and where each one sits. The workshop cuts from that drawing, so it is the most important thing to check.

The preview has a Drawing tab and a 3D preview tab. The drawing shows first, because the dimensioned drawing is what we make the glass from; the 3D view is there to help you picture it. Use "Enlarge drawing" to see it full screen.

What should I check on the drawing?

  • The width and height, in millimetres, against your notes.
  • Whether you gave us the opening size or the exact glass size. See measuring an opening.
  • Each hole: its size and its position, measured to the centre.
  • Each cut-out or notch, and the edges it is measured from.
  • On a shower door, the side the hinges are on.

Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or notched once it has been made, so a number corrected now saves a new panel later.

What does the checkout tick mean?

At checkout, a cut-to-size order shows the drawing with its dimensions and this box:

"I've checked the sizes, holes and cut-outs on this drawing."

You cannot pay until it is ticked. The tick is tied to that exact drawing.

If your order has provisional sizes, for example on some shower layouts, there is a second tick: "I understand the price of the provisional items may change, and that you will confirm them by hand before anything is made." Read ordering cut-to-size glass online for what provisional means.

What is the "Check your order" page?

Your confirmation email links to a "Check your order" page. It shows each drawing, with dimensions in millimetres, and the time cutting starts. You have two choices:

  1. All correct. This tells us you are happy. It never skips our own check.
  2. Request a correction. Choose the piece, say what is wrong, and add a photo if it helps. A correction is free while the window is open. We hold your order and contact you before anything is cut.

The window closes when the order is released for cutting or at its deadline. After that, the page says your glass is being made. If you still need to change something, call us straight away. Our numbers are on the contact page.

Who checks my order before cutting?

Every paid cut-to-size order is checked against a set of rules. Simple rectangles in standard sizes with no holes or cut-outs can go straight through. Orders with holes, cut-outs, hinges, shapes, very large or slender pieces, provisional sizes, or a first-time customer go to our staff for a check before cutting. Nothing in that queue is cut until a member of staff has approved it. When they have, we tell you your order is "Approved for cutting".

For an irregular shape you upload, our team prices it and confirms a CAD drawing with you before anything is cut.

Can I download my drawing?

Yes. You can download the drawing as a PDF from your basket or your account at any time. Keep it with your measurements until the glass is fitted.

Where to go next

Build and check your drawing in the configurator.

Questions we get asked

I spotted a mistake after paying. What do I do?

Open the "Check your order" link in your confirmation email and choose "Request a correction". It is free while the window is open, and we hold the order until it is sorted.

Does pressing All correct speed things up?

It can pass your order to our staff check sooner, but it never skips that check.

Why do I have to tick the drawing at checkout?

The workshop cuts from that drawing. The tick confirms you have checked the sizes, holes and cut-outs on it.

Where do I find my drawing later?

Download the drawing PDF from your basket or your account.
