On this page

You buy a gift card on our gift cards page and check out as usual. Once your order confirms, we email you the code with a link to the card's own page. From there you choose a design, write a message, and email it now or on a day you pick, or print it. Gift cards never expire and can be spent online or in branch.

How do I buy and send a gift card?

  1. Step 1: Choose a value

Pick a value on the gift cards page and add it to your basket. Where any amount is offered, type the value you want within the range shown.

  2. Step 2: Check out

Pay as you would for any order. Buying more than one card gives a separate code for each.

  3. Step 3: Get the code

We email you the code the moment your order confirms, with a link to the card's page.

  4. Step 4: Send it or print it

On the card's page, choose one of three designs and write a message. Email it now, choose a day to send it, or print it.

How do I spend a gift card?

  • Online: enter the code at checkout. The value comes off your order total.
  • In branch: give the code at the counter.
  • In parts: spend part of the value and the rest stays on the card for next time.

The balance is always shown on the card's own page. Where your phone supports it, that page also lets you add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, so the code is to hand at the counter. The balance is never printed on the card itself.

How do I check a balance?

Enter the code from the email or the card in the balance check on the gift cards page. For security, balance checks are limited, so a long run of wrong codes is paused for a while.

What are the rules?

RuleWhat it means
Never expiresA gift card keeps its value until it is spent
Spend in partsWhat you do not spend stays on the card
Online or in branchAt checkout on this site, or at the counter
One code per cardEach card has its own code
Keep the code safeThe code is what spends the card, so treat it like cash

Is there VAT on a gift card?

No VAT is charged when you buy a gift card. VAT is charged on the goods it is later spent on, at the normal rate. See invoices and credit notes.

What if I return something I paid for with a gift card?

A refund goes back the way you paid where that is possible, such as back to your card. When it cannot, for example on an order paid partly with a gift card, the usual route is a credit note, and we can put the value on a gift card instead. Read refunds.

What about a lost code?

Contact us with your order reference and the email address the card was bought with. We can help with a lost code, a card that has not arrived, or an order with a card in it. Refund and exchange of an unused gift card are questions to ask us directly.

Where to go next

Questions we get asked

Do gift cards expire?

No. A gift card keeps its value until it is spent.

Can I send a gift card on a birthday?

Yes. On the card's page, choose the day it should be sent and we email it then.

Can I use two gift cards on one order?

No. Checkout takes one gift card code per order, and so does the counter. If you hold two cards, contact us before you order.

Can I swap a gift card for cash?

A gift card is for spending online or in branch. For anything else about an unused card, contact us with its code.
