To measure for a fixed shower screen, measure the width from the wall to where the outer edge of the glass will be, and the height from the tray lip or wetroom floor to the top of the glass. Take each figure more than once and use the smallest. You give us the opening, never the glass size: the configurator takes off the U channel and works out the glass for you.
What do I measure?
Our configurator asks for two figures on a screen fixed to the wall:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Width from the wall | From the wall to where the outer edge of the glass will be. |
| Height | The height you measured. We take the allowance off it. |
The free end of the screen takes nothing off, because no fitting sits there. The wall edge stands in a U channel, and so does the bottom edge, so 5 mm comes off the width and 3 mm off the height. You see every step written out before you confirm.
How do I measure it?
Step 1: Mark the datum
The screen stands on the tray lip or on the finished floor of a wetroom. That surface is the datum for every height. Mark it in pencil.
Step 2: Measure the width at three heights
Measure from the wall at the tray, at waist height and near the top. Tiled walls bow. Write all three down and use the smallest.
Step 3: Measure the height at both ends
Measure from the datum to where the top of the glass will be, at the wall end and at the open end. Use the smaller figure under a level ceiling. Under a sloping ceiling keep both, and use the rake fields instead.
Step 4: Check the wall for plumb
Hold a level against the wall the screen meets. Note how far it leans over the height of the screen and tell us if it is more than a few millimetres.
Step 5: Enter the opening in the configurator
Type the width from the wall and the height. The size step shows the breakdown, for example a line that starts with your figure and lists each allowance, ending with the glass size.
Step 6: Confirm these measurements
Read the worked-out glass sizes and press Confirm these measurements. If you change a figure, the hand or the glass afterwards, you confirm again.
Why not give the glass size?
A fixed screen is measured from the wall and the tray. The configurator does not ask for its finished glass size, so an allowance cannot be taken off twice. On layouts with a door, the Door width field is the one exception: it is the door's finished glass width, and the field says so. If any allowance on your layout is a figure we still check, the size step labels the sizes provisional and our team checks them before anything is cut.
How is the screen held?
The screen is held by U channel on the wall edge and along the bottom. From 950 mm wide it also gets a support bar kit, which the configurator adds.
Our 700 mm rule also applies: up to 700 mm wide the screen has no holes and is held by channel only. From 701 mm it gets two holes for wall brackets, 200 mm from the top and 200 mm from the bottom, 33 mm in from the wall edge. You do not measure these. The configurator places them. See hinges, channels and seals.
What glass can I choose?
Clear and grey or bronze tinted glass come in 8 mm or 10 mm. Satin and fluted glass come in 10 mm only. Every shower panel is toughened with polished edges. We cut to plus or minus 2 mm, and the dimensioned drawing at checkout shows the size we cut.

Questions we get asked
Do I measure from the floor or the tray?
From the tray lip, or from the finished floor in a wetroom. The tray lip usually sits above the floor, so a height from the floor comes out too tall.
Can I type the exact glass size I want?
No. For a fixed screen you give the width from the wall and the height, and the configurator works out the glass size and shows you how. Read opening size or glass size for the allowances.
Do I measure the bracket holes?
No. On a fixed panel over 700 mm wide the two bracket holes are placed for you, 200 mm from the top and bottom.
What if my wall leans a lot?
