To measure for a walk-in screen, first pick the layout, because each one asks for different figures. A free-standing screen needs its screen width and height. A two-panel walk-in needs each panel's width from its own wall. A three-panel walk-in needs the space for each of panels A, B and C. Every height is taken from the tray or the finished wetroom floor, and the configurator works out the glass.
This page covers the walk-ins with more than one fixing point. For one panel fixed to a single wall, read how to measure for a fixed shower screen.
Which figures does each layout ask for?
| Layout | Fields | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free-standing screen | Screen width, Height | Its ends are free, so nothing is taken off the width. It stands in a floor channel. |
| Two panels | Panel A from its wall, Panel B from its wall, Height | Each panel is measured from the wall it is fixed to, to where its free edge will be. |
| Three panels | Panel A space, Panel B space, Panel C space, Height | C is the short return panel. Two bracket heights are optional. |
The height field reads "The height you measured. We take the allowance off it." A panel standing in a U channel loses 3 mm at the bottom and 5 mm at a wall channel, and you see each one in the breakdown.
How do I measure a walk-in?
Step 1: Choose the layout first
Pick Walk-in shower screen in the configurator and then the layout. The size step shows only the fields that layout needs.
Step 2: Mark the datum
Mark the tray lip or the finished wetroom floor in pencil. Every height starts there.
Step 3: Measure each width at three heights
For each panel, measure from its wall to where the free edge of the glass will be, at the bottom, the middle and the top. Use the smallest. For a free-standing screen, decide the screen width you want.
Step 4: Measure the height at both ends
Measure from the datum to the top of the glass at each end of each panel. Use the smaller figure, unless the ceiling slopes. Then use the rake fields.
Step 5: Add the bracket heights if you know them
On the three-panel walk-in you can give Bracket 1 height and Bracket 2 height, each from the bottom of the glass to the centre of the bracket hole. Leave both empty and we confirm them with you before cutting.
Step 6: Confirm these measurements
Check the glass sizes on the size step, then press Confirm these measurements.
What holds a walk-in panel?
A panel that meets a wall stands in U channel. Our 700 mm rule applies to walk-ins fixed to the wall, including two-panel and three-panel walk-ins: a panel up to 700 mm wide has no holes, and a panel from 701 mm gets two wall bracket holes, 200 mm from the top and 200 mm from the bottom, 33 mm in from the wall edge.
A panel with no edge on a wall, such as return panel C, takes no wall bracket hole. The free-standing screen is held by two support bars from above and is not under the 700 mm rule.
The three-panel walk-in is made in 8 mm or 10 mm glass only, because its connecting brackets are made for that glass. See walk-in screens and support bars for the hardware.

Questions we get asked
Why are my walk-in sizes marked provisional?
Some allowances on the multi-panel walk-ins are figures our team checks before cutting. The sizes are shown as provisional and we confirm them before your glass is made.
Do I have to give the bracket heights?
No. They are optional on the three-panel walk-in. Leave them empty and we confirm them with you before cutting.
Does a free-standing screen need holes?
Not for wall brackets. It stands in a floor channel and is held by two support bars from above.
Can I make a three-panel walk-in in 6 mm glass?
No. Shower glass is 8 mm or 10 mm, and the three-panel walk-in is made in 8 mm or 10 mm only.
