We introduce customers to independent, self-employed glass fitters. Tell us your postcode and the job, or enquire about a named fitter, and our office matches you and passes on your details. Once you are matched, the fitting work and its contract are between you and the fitter, who agrees the price, the date and their own guarantee with you.
How does the fitter introduction work?
We cover the whole UK by postcode. You can start from our fitters page or find a fitter near you.
Step 1: Enquire
Enquire about a fitter from their profile, or tell us the job and we will match you. Add photographs if you have them.
Step 2: Our office reads it
We check the work and your postcode against the fitters who cover it. Fitters' contact details are not shown before this.
Step 3: We introduce you
We email you the fitter's name and pass them your details, so they can contact you about a visit or a quotation.
Step 4: You agree the work with the fitter
The fitter agrees the price, the date and their own guarantee with you.
When you enquire, you tick to confirm that you understand we introduce fitters and the contract for the fitting is between you and the fitter. The full wording is on our how it works page.
What is SW Glass responsible for?
It helps to be clear about who does what:
| Who | What they are responsible for |
|---|---|
| The fitter | The fitting work, the price, the date, their own guarantee and their own insurance |
| SW Glass | Introducing you, and the glass and hardware you buy from us |
We are not a party to the fitting contract and we do not supervise the work. Glass and hardware you buy from us are still sold by us, on our terms of sale, and your rights for those goods are unchanged.
Can I see reviews of a fitter?
Yes. Each fitter's profile shows their top reviews and links to a full reviews page, with star ratings for quality, punctuality and tidiness. Reviews linked to a verified job carry a verified-job badge.
What should I ask a fitter before I book?
A few questions at the start save trouble later:
- Do you carry public liability insurance, and can I see it?
- Can I have a written quote that says exactly what is included?
- Who is ordering the glass and hardware, you or me?
- Who is measuring the opening, and who pays if a piece is the wrong size?
- When can you start, and how long will the job take?
- What guarantee do you give on your work, and what does it cover?
- Will you take away the old glass and packaging?
Agree who measures before anything is ordered. Made-to-measure glass is cut for your opening, so a wrong measurement means a new piece. If you would rather we measured, you can book a measuring visit with us. The booking page shows the visit fee, which comes off what you buy next. Our article on measuring visits explains more, and measuring an opening shows how to do it yourself.
What if something goes wrong with a fitter?
Talk to the fitter first, because the fitting contract is with them. If something goes wrong with a fitter you were introduced to, tell us. If the problem is with glass or hardware you bought from us, contact us with your order reference, as those goods are covered by our terms of sale and your statutory rights.
I am a fitter. Can I join?
Yes. Independent installers can apply to join the fitter network. Fitters carry their own public liability insurance and give their own contract and guarantee. Approval is not a promise of work.
